The Principle of Antistatic Electricity

It is to treat fiber surface by antistatic treatment to reduce electrical charge and accelerate charge leakage or neutralize the generated static charge.

 

Influencing Factors

1.Moisture absorption of fiber
Fiber with better hydrophilicity will absorb more moisture, so it has better electrical conductivity and better antistatic effect.
2.Humidity of air
Under the condition of lower relative humidity of air, the moisture absorption rate of fiber is lower, so the fiber is easier to generate static electricity.
3.Temperature
Under higher temperature, the electrical resistance will decrease and the carried charge will reduce, so the static electricity will reduce.
4.Friction coefficient
If the fiber surface is rougher, the friction coefficient will be bigger. There will be more contact points and the contact velocity will be faster. So that there be easier to generate static electricity.

1.Antistatic basic yarn:
During the spinning process, conductive short fibers (metal, gold plated, organic conductive fibers) are mixed to reduce the resistivity of the yarn and accelerate the leakage of charge.
Organic conductive fiber: nylon base, polyester base and acrylic base.
2.Using antistatic agent:
Using surfactants to have hydrophilic finishing on fabric will improve the moisture absorption, so as to inhibit and reduce the production of static electricity and then eliminate static electricity.
The categories of antistatic agent:
Anionic
Cationic (Strong absorption, can improve the handle of fabric)
Amphoteric (Expensive, small range of application)
Nonionic (The antistatic effect is weak under general humidity. The higher the humidity, the better the effect)
3.Coating:
It is to add conductive materials (graphite, copper powder, silver powder) to the coating and to make coating treatment on the surface of fabric, in order to reduce resistivity of yarn and accelerate charge leakage.
