The theory of moisture absorption and quick drying is to carry the sweat from the inside of clothes to the outside of clothes via the conduction of fibers in the clothing. And the sweat is finally discharged into the atmosphere through the evaporation of water.

It is not to absorb sweat, but to quickly transfer the sweat and to increase the diffusion area of water on the outer surface of the clothing as much as possible to achieve the purpose of rapid evaporation.

Influencing Factors

1.Properties of fiber
① Natural fibers such as cotton, flax, etc. have strong ability of absorbing moisture and preserving moisture. But its quick drying performance is poor. Chemical fibers such as polyester and nylon are the opposite.
② The deformation of the cross section of the fiber make the fiber surface have many grooves. These grooves increase the specific surface area of the fibers, which enhance the moisture absorption ability of the fiber and produce capillary effect, so as to shorten the process of water absorption, diffusion and evaporation in the fabric.
③ Microfiber has larger specific surface area and better moisture absorption ability than ordinary fiber.
 
2.Properties of yarn
① If there are more fibers in the yarn, there will be more fibers to absorb moisture and transfer moisture. So the moisture absorption and quick drying performance will be better.
② If the twist of yarn is low, the cohesive force of fiber will be loose. Therefore, the capillary effect will be not strong and the moisture absorption and quick drying performance will be poor. But if the twist of yarn is too high, the extrusion pressure between the fibers will be high and the resistance of water conduction will also be high, which will be not conducive to moisture absorption and quick drying. Hence, the tightness and twist of the fabric should be set properly.
 
3.Structure of fabric
The structure of fabric will also influence the ability of absorbing moisture and quick drying, in which knitted fabric is better than woven fabric, light fabric is better than thick fabric and low density fabric is better than high density fabric.

 

Finishing Process

Fabric is to achieve moisture absorption and quick drying effect by functional fiber or adding auxiliaries. Functional fiber has lasting effect. But the effect of chemical auxiliaries will weaken with the increase of washing times

② Adding auxiliaries in dyeing machine after dyeing process.
