Categories and Application of Cellulase

Cellulase (β-1, 4-glucan-4-glucan hydrolase) is a group of enzymes that degrade cellulose to produce glucose. It is not a single enzyme, but a synergistic multi-component enzyme system, which is a complex enzyme. It is mainly composed of excised β-glucanase, endoexcised β-glucanase and β -glucosidase, as well as xylanase with high activity. It acts on cellulose. And it is the product that is derived from cellulose.

2.Category

At present, there are two kinds of cellulase that are widely used. They are acid cellulase and neutral cellulase. Their name are based on the PH required for optimal polishing effect.

3.Advantages

● Improve the surface smoothness of cotton and cellulose fiber fabrics.

4.Common process

(1)   Polishing before dyeing: The polishing effect is stable. But it has no effect on the hair and pills produced in the dyeing process. It is no need to inactivate it alone.

(2)   Dyeing and polishing in same bath: Neutral cellulase is suitable to use in this process. It can save time and water. It is no need to inactivate it alone.

(3)   Polishing after dyeing: The polishing effect will be reduced because of the influence of added dyes and auxiliaries. It can remove the hairs and pills produced in the dyeing process. It needs to inactivate in the following process. The rate of flocks removing is slightly higher than the above two processes.

5.Side effect

● The strength of treated fabrics decreases.

● The weight loss of treated fabrics increases.
